Hi Debeye13,

The answer to your question depends on how you and your husband currently have your iTunes library and Apple ID's set up. Assuming that you have one PC with two separate user accounts and two separate Apple IDs, the easiest way to share libraries is to use Home Sharing. This will allow you to see each other's library and add the songs that you want from his library to your own.

If you have a backup of one of the libraries on an external drive, you can add the contents of the iTunes Media folder to the library that you are planning to use together.

The resources below may provide more information:

Use Home Sharing to share iTunes content with other devices

Use Home Sharing on your Mac or PC

You can use Home Sharing with up to five computers on your home network. Follow these steps to use Home Sharing:

  1. Open iTunes on your computer.
  2. Sign in with your Apple ID and password. Use the same Apple ID for every computer or device on your Home Sharing network.
  3. Go to File > Home Sharing.
  4. Turn on Home Sharing.

Now you can use Home Sharing:

  • Stream music, movies, TV shows, apps, and other iTunes content from one authorized computer to another. The computers need to be on and awake, and iTunes needs to be open.
  • To see all of your shared libraries, click User uploaded file in the top-left corner of iTunes.

  • Share iTunes content by dragging it from one computer’s library to another computer’s library.
  • You can also import purchases from other Home Sharing computers into your iTunes library. Choose a shared library, click User uploaded file, and select the content that you want to import.

Home Sharing might work if there were two separate computers. Home Sharing needs iTunes to be running, and iTunes can only be open in one user account at a time on a shared Windows computer. Some more details might help. Are there two libraries already? One computer or two? Is there information such as ratings, play counts, and play lists that you want to bring in as well as the media? Do you have any iOS devices? Managing apps from multiple accounts adds extra complications.
