Mac not showing on Windows computer "My Network Places"

When I first bought my iMac I set up a simple network with 2 Windows computers (over a Netgear Wifi Router) and I know for a fact that my Mac was visible to the Windows machines in the WORKGROUP list, but a while ago after installing a router firmware upgrade and the usual OS X upgrades I noticed that my Mac is not listed in the WORKGROUP list anymore. I am however able to map a network drive to my Mac and access my iMac that way.

Also, my Wifi router shows my Mac as UNKNOWN, although the IP address is correct, and MAC address is also correct. Previously it showed my computer name. I cannot put my finger on the reason for this change, but probably has to do with SMB settings. Curiously, in my /etc/hostconfig file SMBSERVER=NO. Is this supposed to be like that?

The Mac is configured with a single user account, and Windows File Sharing is turned ON. No firewalls activated.
