Q: Songs from the same artist not grouped?

I recently moved from a windows laptop to a MacBook Pro and I am moving all of my music from the files on the old laptop to my new iTunes library (12.3.2). The only problem is that when I add the songs to my library, they appear in the same album but not in the same artist. It would be much appreciated if there is a solution to this problem as it is very frustrating when wanting to shuffle one artist but not all songs are included. Thank You.

    Hi XDkkXD,

I understand that you have some questions about the grouping of songs in your iTunes library. I have an article for you that might be able to clear up this issue, and it is found below:

Why aren't songs with the same album art grouped together? - Apple Support

    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204538

You may want to make sure that your albums are not marked as compilation albums, and that the songs do not have different album artists:

If the album is a compilation

If an album is a compilation, and includes songs from multiple artists, iTunes might display the songs as being from separate albums.

To mark these songs as part of a compilation, follow the steps below:

    1. Select all of the songs that belong in the compilation.
    2. Mac: From the menu bar at the top of your computer screen, choose File > Get Info.
Windows: Press the Control and B keys on your keyboard to turn on the iTunes menu bar. Choose File > Get Info. Learn more about menus in iTunes for Windows.
    3. In the "Are you sure you want to edit information for multiple items? " message that appears, click Edit Items.
    4. Click the box next to "Album is a compilation of songs by various artists." A check mark appears.
    5. Click OK.

If songs have different album artists

If albums include songs by multiple album artists, iTunes might display the songs as being from separate albums. To assign a primary artist name for an album that includes songs by several artists, follow the steps below:

    1. Select all of the songs that should have the same album artist.
    4. In the box next to "album artist," type the album artist that you want all of the songs to have (for example, James Newton Howard).
    5. Click OK.

Take care, and thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities.
