How to get something like Glims but not in Safari?

The only thing that really inhibits me in Snow Leopard is Safari and its inability to upgrade beyond v5. Several sites are beginning to no longer function well, or even at all, and it gets worse month by month.

I would use Firefox, or Chrome - and in fact I do, for those problem sites. But I stick with Safari otherwise, because of the add-on Glims. This is the best auto-complete search utility and site suggestion app bar none, but there is no function I've found that works the same way in other browsers.

To show you what I mean, here are two screenshots: the first shows me typing glims (it wanted to complete to glimpse), the second shows how it changed as I carried on typing.

Anyone know of a solution to my problem?
