Q: I have a mac mini 2010(late), connected to 27 inch thunderbolt, with hmdi to thunderbolt connector, nothing on my display

Mac Mini 2010, connected to thunderbolt 27 inch display, via hdmi to thunderbolt connector.

My screen doesn't even light up, but I do get power

Your Mac Mini does not have Thunderbolt, so can't use a Thunderbolt display. As you have discovered, adapters won't help.
