Q: iTunes could not backup the iPhone because the iPhone disconnected.
I routinely get messages that my phone has not been backed up (in over a year).
I have tried to backup in the following methods:
- USB direct to laptop - Backup to this computer
- Wi-Fi - Backup to this computer
- USB direct to laptop - Backup to iCloud
- Wi-Fi - Backup to iCloud
- Tried all with and without encryption.
- Delete previous backups (there are none)
I have upgraded my iCloud storage to 200GB to make sure I had space.
I have not been able to find a solution that makes it 100% of the way through.
I have read through multiple posts to no avail.
If anyone can give me another route I would appreciate it.
I created a video that shows the process and the alerts I have received.

You do not have the correct version of iTunes. To be able to work with iOS 9.x and iTunes, you need to have iTunes v12.3.2. You will have to download the most current version of iTunes. Then the device should work properly.
