Q: Boot camp on El Capitan loss of Ethernet Connection

I originally installed Boot camp and windows 10 and it worked fine.

I am also running Parrallels 11.1.1 (32312)

I ran boot camp thru parallels infrequently.

When i just tried to use Boot Camp directly i found that although i could access the router with wifi, i am unable to connect with ethernet. The ethernet connection works fine in OSX and bridged network for windows 10 in Parrallels.

I cannot see how i can set up the ethernet connection to work. At one point i was able to double click on the ethernet connection with control panel and it worked for a short while but then stopped. Not been able to access it since.

Appreciate any help on this.

Thanks

Profile of equipment and software at end of initial piece was incorrect. This reply shows correct information.

in bootcamp the real drivers are required for stuff to work, with parallels and other virtual machines they just use "dummy" drivers which direct it to the OS X drivers

the ethernet card chip driver should be included in the bootcamp zip you made in bootcamp in OS X or downloaded from apples site

Thanks for your response. Based on the fact that the ethernet card chip driver should be available can you tell me how to access and install them. I am used to windows 7.

i cannot locate the bootcamp zip file either.

i have checked the apple web site Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5722 and the latest version i can see does not show support for windows 10.

    Thanks again

for the most parts win10 and win8 use the same drivers

my mid 2011 21" imac is not official supported

I installed windows7 back in the day and have just been upgrading windows on top of the earlier one

used both win8 and win8.1 and now win10 my imac use a Broadcom NetExtreme Gibabit Ethernet driver

I took from the latests boot camp zip it works fine

you get to the netcard stuff if you right click on the win button and choose Device manager and unfold the Network adapters
