Brand new iPad mini 3 overheating problem

Hello. I have recently bought a brand - new iPad mini 3 for Christmas. Once I set it up and started to play games, it starts to get warm. It gets warmer depending on how long I use it for. One hour is enough to feel and two hours is enough to hurt my hand! Does anyone know anything regarding this issue? Thanks!
