Q: Family membership without shared credit card?

if I purchase Apple Music Family membership, do I have to go the whole hog and set up family sharing? i buy a whole load of apps and subscriptions, my wife doesn't. So it actually works for us having our iTunes accounts linked to our own cards, not our joint bank card.

But my understanding is that for FAmily Membership of Music to work, we'd need to link the whole thing up, having one card only (the "administrator" account's).

AM I right, or is there a way around this?

From your post, it sounds like the crux of your question is whether you need to use Family Sharing in order to have a Family account for Apple Music. If this is correct, you do need to have Family Sharing set up if you want a Family Membership with Apple Music.
