Q: wifi won't connect properly iPhone 6S

My iPhone 6S connects to the wifi, but that's it. it's like there is a block restricting me from anything that would use wifi or cellular data. nothing will load if I'm connected to my WiFi, but if I go to LTE, it works just fine. and it just happened a week or so ago. We bought a router extension in hope that we just had too many devices connected but that didn't seem to help at all. I can connect to the wifi perfectly fine, but after that, nothing. I get notifications telling me, "No internet Connection" when I'm on wifi and have full bars and I've Reset my Newtwork setting and have restarted my iPhone countless times, so I'm just really confused.

    Hello Tripping Moons,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

I understand that you're able to connect to your Wi-Fi network, but  you're not getting any connectivity.  Since you have already reset your network settings, and you've recently done some work on your network, then there could be an issue with the network itself.  I suggest taking a look a the link below to optimize your network settings.  You can also try and connect to another Wi-Fi network, such as at a library or a café, and see if you can connect to another one.

    Happy New Year

yeah, I don't know at all what to do. My router is unique and we have 2 seperate ones if we have a lot of people trying to connect. I don't know if a factory reset would do anything at all??? I don't know either, if it's just my phone. because everyone else's phone at my house is connected to the wifi and they have no problem.

I have the same problem but only since I upgraded to 9.2.1 and I have seen several other posters with similar issues. My Iphone 6S connects to all other wi-fi and internet with no problems at all including stores and work. My other devices such as my macbook and samsung and iphone 4 phones all connect to my home wi-fi and internet with no problems. But no matter what I try, my iphone 6s although connected to my wi-fi with fulll strength will not connect to the internet, no error messages it just simply gets stuck mid bar and stays there when calling up any page. This is very frustrating to say the least since I cant use my phone for internet at home without turning off my wi-fi and using my plans expensive data. I've seen a few replies saying this is not an apple issue, but the only thing that changed is the fact that I upgraded to 9.2.1.

I'm having this same issue - on both my iPad and iPhone, it shows full signal strength and says I'm connected, but no webpages will load or apps refresh.  When I turn off wifi on my phone everything works fine on LTE, but I don't want to use up my data.  It must be something with the iOS update because:

    - My boyfriend has not done the latest update on his iPad or iPhone, and they both connect fine on our home wifi while neither my iPad or iPhone will connect to the internet.

    - My iPhone also won't connect to the wifi at my work, even though I know it's working as I'm online on my work computer via wifi.

I did notice something strange on both my iPhone and iPad when I went in to check the wifi settings yesterday - the VPN setting was flashing/refreshing without me touching it, even though I do not have any VPN connections set up.  When I actually click on VPN, an error box pops up.  Is there perhaps something wrong with VPN on the new update that is blocking the wifi signal?

Thank you, but I'm not trying to set up VPN (I never have needed it).  I'm just wondering if the VPN setting is messing up wifi connections in the 9.1.2 update.

Have you tried rebooting your router? If the phone works on other networks, but not your home network, that indicates a problem with the router, not the phone.

Hello all -- I actually just figured out what the issue was for me while playing around with the settings on my iPhone.  It was a VPN issue like I suspected in my post above -- an app I had downloaded a while ago called Disconnect was using the VPN, and must have somehow blocked my wifi capability.  I went to Setting > General > VPN and turned the switch to off, and then also went into the "profiles" section under General and deleted the Disconnect profile there.  It's strange, as I had deleted that app months ago; it must still have left a trace in my VPN settings.

Hope this info might be helpful to anyone else with this issue.
