how do I display TC on desk top and about my mac?

I cannot see my new Time capsule either in the about my mac -storage window or on my desktop. I have managed a first backup which shows in my finder under shared devices. I have clicked finder - general - connected servers. I have a 27 inch mid 2011 running El Capitan 10.11.2 and to the best of my knowledge running the latest airpot OS

The Time Capsule is a network drive.....that is why you see it under the Shared heading in the Finder. But since the Time Capsule is not connected directly to your Mac.....like a USB or FireWire drive might be.....the Time Capsule will not "show up" on the desktop or be displayed in "About My Mac".

With some clicking and a few tricks, it is possible to mount the Time Capsule drive......named "Data", unless you have changed the name......but this won't really be of much value since you need to use the Time Machine application to access your Time Machine backups.
