"No bootable device" when Installing Windows 10 via Boot Camp on iMac 27" Mid 2010

I am trying to install windows 10 on my iMac via boot camp. I've tried 3 ways:

1) I downloaded the official windows 10 disc image from microsoft. I followed the boot camp instructions to create a USB drive of boot camp drivers. I selected the disc image and had boot camp partition the drive. When the computer restarted, I got the message "No bootable device -- Insert boot disk and press any key". Pressing a key didn't make a difference.

2) I tried again, this time burning the windows image to a dvd. Same message.

3) I tried a third time, using the dvd and not using the usb drive at all, figuring I would just install the apple drivers later. Same message.

I would appreciate any advice!

Version 10.10.5

iMac (27-inch, Mid 2010)

Processor 2.8 GHz Intel Core i5

Memory 12 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

1. Your Mac will not support USB booting in any way.

2. The DVD is the correct method. Please verify that your Optical drive (CD/DVD) is fully functional. Test with CD and DVD, both.

3. Verify the MD5sum of the ISO that was burnt to a DVD and ensure that it was not corrupted during download.

4. You may need to also run the following two procedures before the next installation attempt.

Hi, thanks for your reply!

Ok, I went ahead and reset the SMC and NVRAM.

I tested the dvd drive and it works fine. I don't have any cds so I can't test that unfortunately.

How do I verify the MD5sum of the dvd? terminal says it is a directory.

I just realized that my imac is not on the list of machines that will support windows 10 :/ Very frustrating because i just upgraded the ram and I'm sure it could handle windows 10 just fine! Use Windows 10 on your Mac with Boot Camp - Apple Support

Your ISO check is fine (Need 64-bit or later iso file error) .

If the DVD was burnt from this ISO with the post-burn verification enabled, you should be fine. Can you run BCA and boot from this DVD? If you have not burnt the ISO to the DVD, please try it and test. You will need a recordable DVD. Use a reputable brand of DVD.
