"No bootable device" when Installing Windows 10 via Boot Camp on iMac 27" Mid 2010

I am trying to install windows 10 on my iMac via boot camp. I've tried 3 ways:

1) I downloaded the official windows 10 disc image from microsoft. I followed the boot camp instructions to create a USB drive of boot camp drivers. I selected the disc image and had boot camp partition the drive. When the computer restarted, I got the message "No bootable device -- Insert boot disk and press any key". Pressing a key didn't make a difference.

2) I tried again, this time burning the windows image to a dvd. Same message.

3) I tried a third time, using the dvd and not using the usb drive at all, figuring I would just install the apple drivers later. Same message.

I would appreciate any advice!

1. Your Mac will not support USB booting in any way.

2. The DVD is the correct method. Please verify that your Optical drive (CD/DVD) is fully functional. Test with CD and DVD, both.

3. Verify the MD5sum of the ISO that was burnt to a DVD and ensure that it was not corrupted during download.

4. You may need to also run the following two procedures before the next installation attempt.

Hi, thanks for your reply!

Ok, I went ahead and reset the SMC and NVRAM.

I tested the dvd drive and it works fine. I don't have any cds so I can't test that unfortunately.

How do I verify the MD5sum of the dvd? terminal says it is a directory.

Miralinas-iMac:~ miralinastewart$ md5 /Users/miralinastewart/Downloads/Win10_1511_English_x64.iso

MD5 (/Users/miralinastewart/Downloads/Win10_1511_English_x64.iso) = a0d4271b7537732a060909fd39d54829

Miralinas-iMac:~ miralinastewart$ md5 /Volumes/J_CCSA_X64FRE_EN-US_DV5

md5: /Volumes/J_CCSA_X64FRE_EN-US_DV5: Is a directory

Miralinas-iMac:~ miralinastewart$

Thanks!
