How to get Boot Camp 6.0.1 Drivers for Windows 10?

Every time I try to download the Boot Camp 6.0.1 Windows Support Software using Boot Camp Assistant 6.0.1 in Mac OS X 10.11.2, I get v4.0 instead according to the 64-bit XML file in the folder--the dates of all files are 2011. The 4.0 version will not install in Windows 10. I tried using the the Action menu selection and the Boot Camp Assistant check box in the second screen. All I get is 4.0.4033.

2008 Mac Pro running 10.11.2 and Windows 10 on an NFCS partition produced by the Windows 10 installer. Do I even need the Boot Camp software since everything I need seems to work without it except for selecting the boot drive.

So far no problem running Win 10. I just use it for games. Controllers, mice, Apple KBs (BT and wired), Nvidia GTX 680 and GTX 980 and headphones all work fine. The only problem is restarting and picking the Mac OSX drive but if I use the Option key to go to Win 10 in the first place, that's not a problem either with just re-starting.

Maybe Boot Camp is not needed?

If generic/manufacturer drivers work, then switching to OS X is just a small inconvenience.
