Music tracks are synced via Bluetooth (not via the Internet).
To check the sync progress:
- On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch > Music.
If the sync is taking longer than you expect, check that you have followed all of these steps:
- Before they can be synced to your watch, you may first need to download to your iPhone any tracks in your planned watch playlist that are stored in the cloud (eg from Apple Music or iTunes Match).
- Set your Apple Watch on its charger with power connected, so that it is charging.
- On your iPhone, go to: Settings > Bluetooth - check this is turned on.
- Check that your watch is not in Airplane Mode:
- When viewing the time on the watch face, swipe up on the watch face > swipe left/right to the Settings Glance > check whether Airplane Mode is enabled (the Airplane icon toggles this on / off) > swipe down again to exit Glances.
- On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > Music > Synced Playlist:
- Tap the playlist you want to sync to your watch.
- When a message next to your playlist says Sync Pending, your playlist will begin syncing from your iPhone to your watch.
- Wait until the sync is finished before using your watch.
If the sync does not appear to be working correctly, remove your watch from the charger and restart both devices, then try the sync steps again. Turn both devices off together first, then restart your iPhone before restarting your watch:
- To turn your watch off: press and hold the side button until you see the Power Off slider; drag it to turn off;
- To turn it on: press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.
