Apparently you are referring to using the original MagSafe power supply in a different country.

If this is the case, you do not need to change the input grid power, the unit automatically will

adjust to the local power; however you would have to supply a physical adapter to allow the

power grid access to that MagSafe. An regional adapter that does not change the voltage or

the wattage is the required part, to use in addition to the original Magsafe adapter.

A UK amazon site online shows official Magsafe adapters with localized end, it can be changed.

Depending on the country or region, some adapters are available; usually in an airport travel

shop you could find these for sale, some are in a huge kit and priced accordingly. An electronic

shop should be able to match your local power port shape to the one included on the MagSafe

since it is a mechanical part with no conversion going on. Official replacement for the toggle

'duck-head' section of the MagSafe can be located in some areas at authorized Apple resellers

or service providers. There is a long cord which can be used, and it replaces the 'duck-head'

part entirely. My portable Macs use the long cord most extensively; I've removed the small part

from the power adapter. If you have a US/Canada standard AC-in power cable, they are 3-wire

usually and a qualified electrician should be able to put a local shape AC plug on that cord.

Without identifying your region of travel or residence, I'm unable to search for the correct part

if one exists (I've done this before, sometimes Amazon stores online show odd replacements)

and the adapter part does not change the voltage. The MagSafe unit itself does automatically.

Good luck in this matter! 🙂

There is a localized replacement part for the toggle 'duck-head' section on MagSafe

and these are hard to find online (except I found one two years ago, it was from China)

so that is the missing link; the India replacement, like most, no longer toggles so it is

a solid piece that goes where the original duck-head would be removed from. The item

is a three-prong single piece of plastic; almost like those for AU or NZ, but not the same.

This one allows the snug fit and with a three-prong direct from the MagSafe, it may stay

plugged into the wall socket much more reliably. I've seen them, usually as part of global

kit that sells for way too much... when looking for just one piece of it. 😐

Capitalism is alive and well everywhere. The OP will pay *someone* to get that duck-head plug-piece because the OP must. 😟

If the computer the original poster's adapter concerns, includes the AC long cable

with the US/Canada end, & would not mind using a long wire instead of duckhead

part, a local electrical supplier could provide the correct cable end to replace the

original plug, on the official Apple, from US to India/South Africa type...

This site shows physical differences in comparative plug shapes: (C/D/M: India, S.A.)

http://www.webberelectronics.com/info/international-plug-guide

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mains_electricity_by_country

According to http://www.interpower.com/ic/guide.html the plug end is G.

Since I've usually saved these kinds of long cords (same one is used with white iBook G4

power adapter, early AirPort Express, later MacBook, etc) I have spares that would be

prime contenders for experimentation, if I were traveling. A three prong plug for the 3-wire

cable. An electrician could certainly put them in correct configuration; if no guide available.

{I've done some electrical work, back in the days when the US business supported unions.}

Spare long cables from Apple power adapters appear in thrift store bins for as little as 50¢.

Or retail for up to $14. for the official cord with end that fits the present MagSafe & others.😝
