Airport Extreme last generation fast flashing amber/green

Hi,

First of all i like to apologize for my English. it’s not my native language.

It’s about an Airport Extreme last generation I bought second-hand.

After a successful configuration I notice that after a minute of 5 the unit reboot and came back online.

I saw this happening for two or three times.

I unplugged the power supply. After power up the Led was solid amber. After waiting long enough for me this was an indication that the unit was ‘hanging’ in his boot procedure.

The next step i did was a total reset. I hold down the reset button while plugging in the power.

After this action the Airport came immediate after supplying the power with a fast flashing amber/green led.

I tried the above action a couple of times without a succes.

Can anybody give me a hint what’s going on….

Thanks,

Eric

Were you able to see what the base station looks like from AirPort Utility?

Did you turn off the internet router in conjunction with the reset of AirPort

and turn it back on, to see if it was recognized?

Did you try & see if using an Ethernet cable and AirPort Utility was able

to provide a work around to resolve this issue? -- Some helpful reading:

Mine are older models and generally their setup was best done by Ethernet.

{Because I also have a few older computers with the correct vintage AirPort

Utility, there is little issue when using later computers since I administer the

AirPort from an older computer. This is one way to keep the old ones online.

Unless one sets up a hardware split to then use two different airport vintages.}

There are a few details that may be the cause of odd troubles, so go back

through the setup and the other aspects of using these devices; some step

appear to not be correctly implemented.

Good luck! 🙂

A fast flashing light that alternates between amber and green is almost always an indication that the AirPort is failing, or has failed.

Try a Factory Default Reset a few more times to see if that might help.

If still no help, you could try to replace the power supply to see if that might help, but that is about all that can do at this point. Apple does not supply any of the internal parts for the AirPort, so repairs really are not possible.
