I understand that you would like to send files from your Mac to your iPhone using AirDrop. Now for your specific setup you would be unable to do so. The reason is that you need a Mac that is 2012 model or newer to make that happen. Take a look at the information below for more details.AirDrop system requirements
To send items to an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, you need a 2012 or newer Mac model with OS X Yosemite or later, excluding the Mac Pro (Mid 2012)
