What OS X do you have? You need OS X 10.8.5 or later for iOS 9.2 and itunes 12.3.2 is the latest version.

Hello. I am also getting the same message when trying to sync my new iPhone 6s Plus with iTunes. "The iPhone cannot be used because it requires a newer version of iTunes. Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest version of iTunes." I have a MacBook Pro. I am running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 This is the most current upgrade according to the system check. I am running iTunes 12.2.2.25 and I have power cycled both my phone and computer numerous times. Very frustrating. I see you mentioned Mac OS X Lion 10.8.5 in the post above. Can i go to the apple site and download from there? Thought it would be a simple fix once I upgraded. Thanks for your help.

You can buy a download code for Mountain Lion 10.8 from Apple online, or you can try upgrading for free to El Capitan 10.11 (but more likely to encounter other issues).

Yes, 10.8.5 or higher, but only El Capitan is higher and available.

I'm having the same issue since I just got a new 6s today and when I connect to my iMac it gives the message "phone cannot be used because it requires a newer version of iTunes. Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest version of iTunes." My iTunes on my Mac is current and I have gone to the itunes.com website on my phone and clicked download but am not sure if it did or not. Is there a way to tell on iPhone what version of iTunes it currently has? My Mac model is 5,1 so its older and I've read the newest version OS it will support is Lion. So I can't upgrade to a newer OS. Is there anything else to fix this or has planned obsolescence finally caught up with me?
