cant seem to get my photos to stream with my apple tv

I have purchased the newest version of apple tv for my wife. I took the old one (1st generation down stairs to the family rm and it works great except it wont stream my photos. I have changed my apple id to work with my devices, turn on airplay and homesharing, whats left. I have pics that rotate while im listening to music but they arent mine!
