I can not get the Airplay Icon to come up on my menu bar on my macbook air?

I can not get my Airdrop icon on my menu bar on Macbook Air.

The AirPlay icon appears in the menu bar only when an AirPlay-enabled device has joined your network.

Airdrop has no icon in the menu bar.
