transfer a mp3 file from Messages on iPhone to iTunes
Using the latest ios on my iphone, is it possible to transfer a music file from Messages into iTunes? I don't see that option.

Thanks again for your reply ManSinha. On the iPhone, the apps are called iTunes Store and Music. Neither of these apps have the import feature that you refer to. On my Mac, with iTunes v. 12.3.2 open and my iPhone connected to the Mac,
there are still no options to add a song from Messages or Mail, on my iPhone, to iTunes on my Mac, or to Music, on my phone.
You can't do this just on the phone. The directions ManSinHa is giving you involve using a computer. There is no way to add audio files to Music on your iPhone except by downloading them from the iTunes Store or by syncing them from your computer.
And, yes, you're seeing all of AmishCake's reply. It's just a dot. Sometimes the forum software won't update a thread until you post something. So, people will make a post with just a dot to force the update.
You won't be able to add it from your phone to the Mac's iTunes library. You'll need to send it to your Mac in order to get it into iTunes. From Messages on your Mac or from email on your Mac you will be able to add it to the iTunes library on your Mac and then sync it back to the phone.

Thanks Meg St. Clair. I guess you answered 2 questions. So, dead end for those music files.
No, not if you use your computer.
Further clarification for anyone who may be confused: the iTunes app on your phone is not the app you use for playing music. It's just the store. The app that you use for listening to music is the Music app.
Best of luck.
Use the forwarding option to send it by email to yourself
Once you have the file in an email - convert it to m4v (the format for iTunes)
Then use the import function of iTunes to bring it in

Thanks for your reply ManSinha. So I have the m4v file in my email, on the iPhone, but I can't find any import options in the Music app of my iPhone.
.
Hi AmishCake,
It's odd, but your reply is not showing.
Thanks Meg St. Clair. I guess you answered 2 questions. So, dead end for those music files.
Thanks Meg!
