Jan 1, 2016 9:39 PM in response to buzby Jeff,I don't like an upside down mounting orientation of motor-driven hard drives, because I think it's better for the heat to dissipate off of the top cover. The old Power Mac 8600, 9600 and beige G3 mini-towers had a hard drive carrier that mounted upside down at the top of the chassis. In your G4 MDD, there's a cooling fan mounted in front of the (front) hard drive carrier, which should help to draw the heat away from the new drive you've installed.

First off, thanks for the reply. I knew the HD was contrary, just wasn't sure what the consequence would be. There is indeed a 120mm cooling fan next to that horizontal carrier. If I remember, I believe it's upgraded in my machine. If gravity isn't going to cause a problem, then I think I can deal with any heat issue.
