Q: Why won't my photos work?

My photos don't work, as in I can't view any of my videos or send any of my photos, and they say they have to download, but they are on my phone. I also can't take new photos or save anything from online. I'm on iPhone 4s running iOS 9.2, and if anyone knows what's up or how to fix it, please respond.

    Hello miniduder1,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

From your post, it sounds like you have two similar, but separate issues going on. The first issue is that you cannot view or send photos/videos from the Photos application on your Mac.

If this is correct, it sounds like you have iCloud Photo Library enabled with Optimize Storage enabled. If this is right, your photos and videos taken from your devices will show up on your Mac, but are not actually stored there; they are stored using iCloud. It sounds like your Mac is trying to download these photos and videos that you would like to share prior to sharing. More information on iCloud Photo Library and using Optimize Storage can be found in the following article.

It sounds like the second issue is that your iPhone’s storage may be at capacity which in turn is not allowing your to take any more photos or videos. If this is correct, the next article may assist you in freeing up some space on your iPhone to allow your take more photos and save online content.
