Q: Stop Yosemite from bugging me about El Capitan

Yosemite keeps bugging me about installing El Capitan. How do I get it to stop bothering me?

You can download El Capitan then quit the installer.  It will sit passively in your applications folder. Problem solved.

Another option is to turn off "automatically check for updates" by unchecking the box

    >System Preferences>App Store>  "automatically check for updates"

Periodically you can manually check for updates via launching the >App Store>Updates
