com.apple.photos cache, Can i delete the files ?

Hi,

I've noticed when using omni disk sweeper that I have a large amount of files in : users/myname/library.containers/com.apple.photos/data/library/caches

Not being to tech savvy, I remember clearing caches in Photoshop etc (Thumbnails).

Can I delete these files or are these the pics stored in my iCloud photos?

Hello Deltrotterc,

While the location you've identified does contain temporary (cached) information used by the Photos app as well as cached images that can be removed without jeopardizing your data, it will be recreated by the Photos app. Typically cached data will be released and created as the app needs or no longer needs said data.

As such, it's usually best to allow an app to manage its cached information unless the app is malfunctioning in some way, or the cached files are taking up a very large amount of room that's needed for other purposes.

Sincerely
