Q: Iphone 5 not charging from macbook

My iPhone 5 is charging very slowly from my Macbook - using it while it's charging causes the battery to still go down even though it's plugged in, and the phone gets very hot.  I've plugged the same cable into a wall charger though and it charges fine.

Anyone had this happen?  It's just started doing this over the last couple of days.  I've tried the USB slot with other accessories and it seems to be working fine.

    Hi katastrophical,

The resource below offers some suggestions for charging your iPhone 5.  Are you using the cable and power adapter that came with your iPhone to charge it?   Plugging directly into a power outlet will provide the best charge.  It sounds like you have already tested the USB port of your MacBook.  The iPhone battery should be tested if it is not charging properly.

    Take care,
