How do you make a 6x8 and a 3.5x5 print on my printer?

I have many pictures in iPhoto 6 that are from my 10 MP digital camera. I have this wierd compliation frame that has a bunch of 3.5"x5" pictures and one 6"x8". I can not seem to get iPhoto to print either size. Is this a limitation of the software? N-up doesn't work because it makes the print close but off enough so they don't fit in the frame. Standard prints doesn't work becuase it's not in the list. The other options are just worse. Even though I crop it to 6x8, it's the same ratio as 5x7 so it's like nothing happens. PLEASE help if you know how to print out of iPhoto to your own personal printer and have 1 print be 6 inches by 8 inches and many 3 and half inch by 5 inch pictures.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Unless the printer supports those sizes explicitly you won't be able to print them in iPhoto. You're best bet is with a 3rd party application like Portraits and Prints, Photoshop Elements, etc.

With PSE I create a canvas that's 11 x 8.5 x the same dpi as my photos and put my cropped 3.5 x 5 image in the upper left hand corner. Then when I print with the Page Setup set to 11 x 8.5 borderless, I can put any size paper in the printer and will get a 3.5 x 5 in that corner. I'll have to trip two sides but it works. Works for 6 x 8 or any other size up to 11 x 8.5.

I don't use Portraits and Prints but I think you can do essentially the same with it.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
