Q: when i try and connect my new I phone 6 s the message i get is the iphone franks i phone needs a newer version of i tunes and i have tried everything and it all says its up to date

when i connect my new i phone 6 s its says cannot use because it requires a newer version of i tunes, i have tried and cant update

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.2

    Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

     

    From your post, it sounds like you may be using an operating system on your Mac that doesn’t support the latest version of iTunes. According to the following iTunes 12.3 download page, your Mac would need to be running OS X 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion) or later. 

     

    iTunes - Download iTunes Now - Apple

     

    Software:

    • OS X version 10.8.5 or later, Apple Music requires OS X version 10.9.5 or later

     

    If you would like to update the operating system on your Mac, I have included the links you would need to upgrade to 10.8 and the current version of 10.11 (El Capitan) if you choose. Be sure to check the system requirements for each operating system to verify that your Mac is capable of running it prior to updating.
