Mac Book Pro late 2011 up to 16Gb of RAM?

Dear community

my Mac Book Pro 15" with 2,5GHz Intel Core I7 , defined as "late 2011" need a RAM upgrade from the actual 4Gb to something better.

Checking the online specs on Apple support forum seems my laptop can be upgraded up to 8Gb, and is fine for me.

But I also went to local reseller in Italy and they told me I can upgrade to 16Gb with 2*8Gb module.

It is true or I go to 8Gb to be sure.

Absolutely true, a late 2011 MBP will accept up to 16 GB RAM. The best sources of Mac compatible RAM are OWC and Crucial.

I have 16 GB RAM installed in my 2011 MBPs and both run without flaws.

Any one who says that the 2011 MBP cannot use more than 8 GB RAM, does so out of ignorance.

Make certain that you adhere to the correct specifications which are: 204-pin PC-10600 (1333 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM. for 2011 MBPs.

The Corsair RAM will probably be fine so long as it is not some economy version. Macs have a well deserved reputation for being selective when it comes to RAM. Some brands will simply not work.

Thanks a lot for the reply. It solve my issue. I have seen you suggest Crucial and OWC. Are much better than Corsair? For sure I would like to invest in good RAM quality.
