Q: Where are my videos?

I moved my pictures, videos and music to an external hard drive.  The new Photos application can find all of my media, but iMove version 10.1 cannot find them.  The Import function cannot find video files from yesterday.   How can I point iMovie to my external hard drive so I can work with video files?  The Main Photos Library is greyed out.  My other file dates are from 2014 (not from 2015).  I reviewed the Apple Knowledge Base.

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.2), 12 GB of RAM, 500 GB, iMovie 10.1
