Q: Apple Watch High Heart Rate - Workout App
I have the Apple Sport Watch with watchOS 2.1. I know many people have had issues with the HR being too low in the workout app but I have just the opposite. When I start my workout (running) my HR in the workout app will jump from my normal 40-50 bpm to 190 bpm. The HR app still shows it in the 40-50 bpm. The workout app will stay very high (for me) sometimes for 10-15 minutes and then drop back down to normal in the 120s. I know some will say oh its just your HR at the beginning of a workout. I have tracked my HR with the Polar loop and with a cardiology multi-day monitor and it has NEVER been above 150 even during a cardiac stress test. I am pretty sure I would pass out if it were near 190. Note also that when I use the HR app the HR is always pretty accurate.
I have reset the watch, tried wetting the back, wear it very tight on my wrist, etc..
I go through and delete the high values and am happy now that the activity/workout apps recalculate the average but I wonder how this impacts the HR levels used to determine whether or not I am exercising. My HR is normally very low (resting HR 35) so on a walk my HR rarely gets over 100 and the watch never counts it as exercise in the activity app.
