Why is there still no solution for Bluetooth skipping in cars and other devices?

I paired my iPod with my 2013 Tacoma via Bluetooth and pairs just fine but once I play music it skips or speeds up every few seconds. I have also had it paired to some Jaybird Freedoms and the it pairs fine but the music cuts out unless I hold the iPod next to my head (not ideal for working out) from my research, people have been having this issue since 2012 but I can't seem to find any solutions or workarounds. And all of the similar questions on other blogs don't have any replies or answers.Any helpful tips or info would be appreciated
