Q: Documents & Data taking up 2.39 GBs

My Documents & Data section is taking up 2.39 GBs on my iPhone 6.  Can anyone tell me why this is?  Is there a way for me to delete anything to take this number down?

iPhone 6, iOS 9.2, null

Are you using iCloud Drive?  It is an upgrade to Documents & Data.

Go to Settings/General/Storage & iCloud Usage. Tap Manage Storage. This will list the usage for every app on the phone. Tap on any app to see how much that app is contributing to Documents & Data.

I've seen that but it wants me to delete the app and I don't necessarily want to do that.  Do I delete the app and then reinstall it?  Will that start if fresh?

I am using it, but maybe not for everything.  I don't pay to get extra and my back up takes about all the space I have.  If I use iCloud for all my apps, will that take down the amount of GBs my Documents & Data section is?

The app should have a way to clean up its own data. Deleting the data without using the app will probably break the app. If the app does not provide a way you can delete the app, reboot the phone, and add the app back. That should start with a clean app with no data. The reboot is important, because the phone doesn't cleanup orphaned data until it restarts.

You might consider paying extra. Apple lowered the price a couple of months ago to 99¢ a month for 50 GB. That's a lot cheaper than Dropbox or box.com.

    Hi ,

icloud gives you only 5gb for free and its poor in this times because a lot of things use that space . that happen to me and a couple of things I do:

    - disable icloud backups of my devices ( now I do it with Itunes)

    - erase the things I dont need ( if you have a device with ios9 you can do it with icloud drive app, also from the web or from a Mac )

    - disable the option to saves photos on icloud

    - disable the option from whatsapp to save automatic the photos

    - erase old conversations from whatsapp ( when the app do the backup is to large if there is a lot of conversations specially if this have a lot of pictures)

    - Some apps saves pictures or videos on icloud. try to configure this.

    But..

if you are a person who love have a lot of pictures on icloud, do backups automatically on icloud, don't worry about what files the apps are saving on icloud I recommend to you to pay for and extension of the service ( more capacity on icloud)

I ended up doing a restore on my phone and reloading the back up.  That helped.  We'll see for how long.
