Creating folders to organize home videos

Hello,

I'm sure this has been asked but I can't find the answer.

I am using Windows 10 64bit. I have the latest version of iTunes. I recently ordered an Ipad Air 2 and I am trying to prepare iTunes for when it arrives. This will be my first Apple product and first experience with iTunes.

I have had little issue with my music collection importing. The problem I have is organizing my home videos. Over the years I have organized and renamed various folders of home videos shot on a variety of devices, such as digital cameras and cell phones. I am able to import the videos, but they just appear as a list. They are already organized into folders and subfolders on my desktop. I have tried consolidating, using genres, renaming the files before importing, but I cannot figure out how to make separate folders for them.

I need folders for family, friends, vacation, concert, etc. My goal is that I can take my Ipad to various functions and get togethers and show people the pics and movies. I would just like to load iTunes, select a folder, and see a list of the contained files.

I do not physically have the Ipad yet, so if this is something I need to do specifically on the device, I will wait for it to arrive. My understanding is that iTunes will sync with the Ipad when I get it, so I would need to do this anyway. Just trying to get prepared ahead of time.

Would it be easier to use a third party app for videos?
