Q: New photos not being sync'd to existing albums

I can add new photos to an existing album in Photos (imported images taken with actual camera), then sync, and the new photos are not being added to the album on my iPhone. Any particular tricks to forcing iTunes to "merge" the content of photo albums?

 

iPhone 6, iTunes 12.3.2.35, Mac OS 10.10.5

    Hi there mkellett,

     

    It sounds like you are adding photos to an album in the Photos application that you already have set to sync with your phone, but when you update the photos in the album and sync your phone they do not update on the phone. That sounds to me like the iPod Photo Cache needs to be deleted so it can be refreshed. Don't let the name fool you, although it is called the 'iPod' Photo cache, it really applies to any iOS device that syncs to your iTunes library:

     

    About the iPod Photo Cache folder

    If you're syncing from a Photos, iPhoto, or Aperture library, use the steps below to find the iPod Photo Cache folder in its default location:

    1. From Finder, choose Go > Home from the menu bar at the top of your computer screen. If you moved your Photos Library, iPhoto Library, or Aperture Library to a different location, go to that location instead.
    2. Open the Pictures folder and locate the Photos Library, iPhoto Library, or Aperture Library file.
    3. Control- or right-click the file, and then choose Show Package Contents from the pop-up menu.
    4. In the window that opens, click on and drag the iPod Photo Cache folder to the Trash.
      Don't remove or modify any other file within the library package. Removing or modifying other files might cause data loss.
    5. Close the window.

     

    Once it is deleted, restart the computer and sync the device again. That should make the album update properly and get you back up and running properly. Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
