Jan 11, 2016 9:13 AM in response to camronfrommechanicsvilleby JtheK,Office 365 (now using Office 2016 for Mac if you are running Yosemite or better) works quite well off-line. After installing and activating, sign out of your Microsoft account by clicking on your name as shown in the Document Gallery when Word starts. When saving, click on the On My Mac button in the lower-left corner of the Save dialog. All documents will be saved to your local hard disk.
With Office 365, you do have to sign in once a month to keep the software activated, but other than that, stay signed out.
