Siri didn't provide proper search result

Hello,

I have some problems while using Siri.

My iPhone works iOS 9.1.

My Siri language is set to British English.

Every time I would like to ask Siri for search something, it never response correct results.

For instance, "Search web for Telescope".

When I tried to ask Siri search something on web. It ne response results in English, it always response Chinese results and which is not what I ask for.

I think it may using Baidu Search Engine to back results to me.

But the issue is Baidu never provides English results.

Even I tried to check if they respond currently in Chinese. But it doesn't.

Baidu is famous for its bad search accuracy.

Is there some way to enforce Siri respond Bing or Google search results?

approximately 2 days ago my siri google reaults no longer open safari and display the results of my search. Siri shows them on the black notification screen now.

afaik i have not changed any settings willingly.

i used to activate siri and then say "Google XYZ company financial reports"

and Siri would say "searching google for XYZ company financial reports"

and she would open Safari and display a google search as if i had typed it in the address/search bar.

Now it shows a bunch of poor search results on the black notification screen.

i carry out google searches hundreds of times a day and i would appreciate any help in return siri to previous operation. thnx.

Hi Tommy,

If Siri isn't providing correct responses, try turning off Siri then turning Siri back on by going into Settings > General > Siri > Tap the switch to turn off Siri then to turn Siri back on again.

By default, Siri will search bing for it's results. If you'd like Siri to get results from somewhere else, (maybe, Google for example) you'll need to say something like "Siri, search Google for cute pictures of cats."

I hope I've helped answer your question today, and if you need anymore assistance, or have any more questions - please don't hesitate to ask 🙂

Hello Friend,

Thanks for your reply.

If I just say "Google something" it works.

But most of time I didn't want to leave Siri.

Since iOS 9, Siri can providea in-app search results.

If you say "Google something" it will open Safari.

Another way, if I say "Search the web for something"

It will provide results by using a Chinese search engine which is called "Baidu".

Which is not Bing or Google.

As far as "Baidu" never provides good results for English and it's accuracy is terrible.

So I would like to make Siri default use Bing or Google to give me in-app search results.

Is there anyway to change Search preference for Siri?

Another very strange thing is when I took my SIM card out.

It will no longer provides "Baidu" results for me,

It is automatically changed to use Bing.

As far as I'm not native speaker,

I hope hope you can understand most of them in this comment.

Regards,

Tommy

Hi Tommy

For users in China, Siri uses Baidu to deliver search results. This is the expected / correct behaviour and there is presently no way to make Siri to use a different search engine as the default.

If you would like Apple to consider adding that option, you may wish to submit feedback here:

As you have found, it is still possible to ask Siri to search using different search engines (for example: "search Google for telescopes").

The only difference is that the search results will instead be displayed within Safari (which will open automatically).
