You need a Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter (it plugs into a Thunderbolt port on the Mac)

If the display uses ADC (Apple Display Connector)
you will also need a DVI to DVI adapter

I am not sure if the ADC you mention is the same as my Cinema Display's connector.

The full width is 2" wide while the enclosure for the pins is 1 3/16" wide. If this is the same as the image you provided, do I then need both the Mini Display Port to DVI Adapter AND a DVI to DVI adapter?
Yes, your display has ADC. You will need both adapters. It may be cheaper to get a different display.
