my iphone used to compress video when I emailed files, now my iPhones 4S and 5 try to send uncompressed files that are too large to email. The previous default system worked just fine, what changed in the updated IOS settings?

Default video compression for email disabled?

iPhone 5, iOS 9.2

You iPhone will still compress short videos in the Apple email app, but how you do it has changed. Do not go to photos, but start a new email, in the body of the email hold down your finger until a Menu pops up, now scroll the menu to the left and until you see the Insert Photo or Video option, tap you will automatically be taken to photos, go to Camera Roll, tap the Video you want, select Choose, and the Compression begins, complete your email and send.

Thanks, I tried to stat email first, using Gmail or AOL mail, neither offered any choice about file size reduction like the previous iOS software did automatically. As to videos, unlike photographic images which offers varying levels of compression during the email process, since Apple updated the IOS, when you go to send a video it no longer compresses the file. I used to record 10-13 second clips on my iphone and routinely the file was squeezed down to 400-600 k; and if I made a longer video, I could easily get by for less than 2 or 3 mb. Now, my phone is spitting out 12-25 mb files, which choke the email system and get bounced because the file size is too big. I even changed the default from 1080p to 720p resolution, which didn't help much so I had to download a video compression app, which adds another couple of steps to the process and still produces fairly large files. Then when I go to play it, Quicktime says I need some third party add on component and redirects me to a list of vendors with software, but doesn't tell me which add on I now need.

My iphone still compresses video if I follow these steps. I have iphone 4S. Start at the homepage and go to mail, then click at bottom right to start a new email, tap and hold in the body of the email and release. A black bar should appear that says "select, select all, >". Touch the arrow pointing right and select "insert photo or video". This will take you to your photos. Find a video, tap it and then hit "choose". My phone then says "compressing video" while it is adding to the email. I know this is a lot more steps than it used to be, but at least it works. If this doesn't fix your problem, then maybe I don't understand exactly what you are trying to do.
