Yosemite vs El Capitan

Hi Everyone,

I understand that mainly El Capitan is reported to be mostly Yosemite, with performance improvements; however, I just bought a new MacBook Air, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5) with 256 GB & 4GB of RAM and I don't know if would be a good idea to upgrade!!

Should I create a new partition with El Capitan to review what options should be suitable as far as slowness and performance wise? or should I just make the upgrade?

Suggestions pls...

Did you buy this machine used?

Then the previous owner may not have restored it to factory settings.

I bought it brand new at the Apple Store... I also though that will come with the latest iOS, should I upgrade then?

El Capitan was released over three months ago.

You got a very stale "new" machine.

It seems so, I guess I cannot do anything about but just to upgrade iOS!

Do a backup of your personal data and then do the upgrade.

Yosemite will always be a "restore" point if things don't work out.

Well, great system & improvements, but unfortunately still few very bad bugs as for USB devices. I would check that first!

In general, yes. But first you shoudl check that app yur apps work with X.11.

next, you should have a full backup, better yet, a clone.

I run el cap on my 6 year old laptop.
