How do i find out how much money is left on an old itunes card

So i have on old itunes gift card that i would like to use on my new iphone 6s, the card has already been redeemed, and thats what it tells me on The itunes app. How do i find out how much money is left on my card??? And how do i then buy some songs with the remaining money?

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.2

Sign in to your Apple ID. Your remaining balance if any will show as a credit on your account. I am not aware of a way to see the remaining balance of a particular gift card, only your total balance. See your iTunes credit balance - Apple Support

To buy a song:

Open iTunes
Search for the song you want or search by genres or top charts
Find a song you like (you can listen to previews of songs by taping or clicking on the play icon. This is either on the album cover or on the song number.)
Click or tap on the price to buy
If you have a credit it will deduct the money from that

There is nothing left on the card. Once redeemed, the card is of no use. The balance is in the iTunes account where you redeemed it.

The balance on your account shows in iTunes.
