as having yosemite and others say mavericks. Why would they be different if the model # is the same?
A 2015 MF839LL/A MBP came originally with Yosemite. It cannot have Mavericks installed in it.

OK. Thanks. I'm still shopping around for the best price but I will clarify it with them if I decide to purchase. On another note, what are the pluses and minuses for buying a refurb. mac?
From Apple, essentially none, I have purchased three refurbished MBPs from them. All have been cosmetically perfect and you get the same warranty and free telephone support as a 'new' one.

I am deciding between a refurbished one from apple for 1099 or for the same price from an online retailer, Zubber Tech world I've never heard of this company but the item is listed as new. Do you know anything about it? I just can't find anyone reviews on this company, but I think it's in New Jersey.
I have never heard of them. Regardless where you purchase a Mac, it can be serviced at any Apple store for any warranty repairs and Apple care. The 'downside' is that you probably will not have the privilege of returning the Mac within 14 days from the date of purchase (no questions asked) if you purchase it from Zubber.
