Jan 3, 2016 2:57 PM in response to William Gustinby ChitlinsCC,You can still use it - Apple just doesn't "support" it and won't update it.
Take a look at this that is 'related' How can I replace iDVD now that it's gone. I'd like to transfer my old iDVD project to whatever is out there that's a mac friendly t app.
If your Product INfo is correct, you will have a tough time 'replacing' it with anything else.

Jan 3, 2016 3:17 PM in response to Meg The Dogby William Gustin,My objective is ti upload my iPhone videos and pix of my grand child to iMac. Make a simple dvd so that my daughter can watch. Can toast do that? I can't believe the problems incurred with upgrading to el capitan and the new OS X system. R there 3rd party software that will work? Such as iskysoft creator? Downloaded free trial NO LUCK with what I'm trying to do. Was much happier with old system.
Thanks BG

Jan 3, 2016 3:40 PM in response to William Gustinby Klaus1,Why is there no iDVD on my new Mac? How do I get it and how do I install it?

To burn a DVD with iDVD from the latest version of iMovie, you have to export the movie using the Export button and select 480p as the size. Open iDVD and start a new project, then drag that exported movie file into the iDVD menu window, avoiding any drop zones you see.
If you are using El Capitan see this thread:

Jan 4, 2016 8:50 AM in response to William Gustinby Old Toad,Toast can do that as well as a number of apps available from the App Store. Go to the store and search for "video DVD". You'll get a number of potential candidates ranging from Free to $40. You can't create as complex a video DVD as you can with iDVD but for simple projects with only one menu they may fit your needs.
iDVD is becoming marginally compatible with El Capitan. Several of the newer, animated themes do not work. I've had no problems with the simpler, older themes.
