Q: Not able to play songs that were bought many years ago on a different Apple log in

Many years ago I bought songs in iTunes using a different log in. No problems until now-iTunes wont play the songs and keeps asking for the log in from may years ago-I cant remember it-can this be resolved??

You may need to contact Apple.   "Many years ago," i.e. when iTunes first started selling music the files were all protected by Apple's DRM, and iTunes needed your account password to play the tracks.   The only way around that was to burn tracks to a CD and rip them back into your library.

These days, you can purchase Apple Match, then re-download the non-DRM files IF they're still in the iTunes store (I have about 150 tracks that aren't there any more).  When you're through, you don't need your subscription to Apple Match any longer.    Trick is, you still would need your old Apple ID to pull that off.

    Yes, very easily.

    Just recover your AppleID.

-> Recover Your Apple ID - Apple

And don’t create a new AppleID. It's not needed.

    Just update it if/when needed.

See this -> Change your Apple ID - Apple Support
