Q: No itunes on my ipad pro

I have a brand new ipad pro. The itunes icon does not appear on it anywhere. (The itunes store icon and the apple apps do). Where is itunes? Where is the itunes icon? How do I use itunes on my new ipad pro?

On my main computer, in itunes, the new ipad pro is listed as a device. But on the ipad pro, there is no itunes.

Anyone?

The iTunes store icon is "iTunes" on the iPad. Are you not able to locate the music app? -AJ

There is no iTunes icon on an iPad.

There is a Music icon.  And, as you've noted, there is an iTunes Store icon.

Yes, I have the apple music icon...when I clicked it nothing happened...for days. Suddenly, today, a few songs show up but not all. I've got everything hooked up to wireless network.

I assume when away from a wireless network (non-cellular ipad pro) my

itunes library would not be accessible regardless....correct?

    Thanks for your help!

Your own personal music downloaded to your iPad will be available without a data connection. Move content from iTunes on your computer to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support this can also be done directly on the iPad.

If you use an Apple Music subscription only music that you have made offline will be available without a data connection. Add music from the Apple Music catalog to your library on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or PC - Apple Support

If you are trying to use iTunes Home Sharing, this only works on a local WiFi network from inside your home or, depending on the distance of your WiFi signal, maybe locally just outside and around your immediate home area.

iTunes Home Sharing DOES NOT work over cellular data service and won't work from home to any remote distance locations.

    OK...if I understand:

itunes (now imusic icon on the ipad pro) will work when on LOCAL (inside my home) network only.

My itunes library will work when away from LOCAL wifi ONLY if downloaded physically (taking up lots of space) on my ipad pro?

    Is this the correct understanding?

I only draw and paint on these ipads, and am woefully ignorant of their other talents...

Thanks so much in advance for your answers.

    OK...if I understand:

itunes (now imusic icon on the ipad pro) will work when on LOCAL (inside my home) network only. The iTunes Store is accessible anywhere there is a data connection (coffee shops, cellular data, wi-fi, home, ect..).

My iTunes library will work when away from LOCAL wifi ONLY if downloaded physically (taking up lots of space) on my ipad pro?

Is this the correct understanding? That is correct you can only play your music without a data connection if it is stored locally on the device. You can use any wi-fi to download though it does not have to be your home wi-fi.

Look at MichelPM's response about HomeSharing. I do not use that feature, so I cannot speak about that.

tthanks for the succinct reply. now if I can just get apple music or store to show my entire library and purchases...which it doesn't. I've been on apple since 1991; these things eventually come clear. remember the dark days of scsi chains?

Another user who had problems with the new music app and the fix to get his iTunes and purchased libraries to show was to have, at least two songs actually downloaded onto the iPad for all of the Music App functionality to appear.

Also, if you want your music, movies, photos, etc. show up on your iPad fron iTunes on your computer through your WIfi network, you need to activate Home Sharing on iTunes on your computer and to activate it on your iPad, go to the Settings app under the separate Music, Movies (Videos) and Photos settings and on the right panel, look down the list for Home Sharing and activate it for each category for your iPad to be able to network access your iTunes Library on your computer through either the Music App, Videos App or Photos Apps on your iPad.

    Good Luck!

I've already activated Home Sharing. Will try the priming the pump method of loading a couple of songs to the ipad/hard copies. Thanks for the input! Also will check that Home Sharing is activated for all the categories. Frankly, getting confused at this point. Thanks for your help.
