Can't email my home videos.

If you are having difficulties with getting an error sending an attachment, you might want to check the size of the file you are trying to send. The limit isn't based on the time of the video, but rather the file size.

Limits on sending messages

There are several safeguards in place to make sure that only iCloud members can send messages using iCloud. One of these safeguards includes reasonable limits on:

The size of incoming and outgoing messages (20 MB, up to 5 GB with Mail Drop turned on)

Mailbox size and message sending limits in iCloud

Mail Drop limits

Attachments might not be sent using Mail Drop if they exceed these limits:

• The message, including its attachments, is larger than 5 GB. Try sending the contents of your message in multiple email messages or compressing your attachments to make them as small as possible.
• An uncompressed folder is attached to the message. Use these steps to compress your attachments.

Are you initiating from Mail and inserting the video, or initiating from Photos and sending via email?

One gives you compression, one does not.

I tested a 25 second video. I can send it by Mail when used as the first step, but not using Photos.

I would guess this is due to the lack of compression when using Photos to send by email.

Sadly, your advice feels very apple-centric and not very customer-centric.

Everything worked great until this latest update.

Now, like piprchk, I can't send anything no matter how small (5 sec clip).

& Mail Drop triggers nothing...

In the past we could shorten clips. Now we can't. I simply can't send any video from my iPhone and feel completely defeated.

I still can't get Mail Drop to work.

I saw somewhere that I need iCloud Mail for this option to work. And in Preferences I am supposed to Click Composing, then select “Use Mail Drop when sending large attachments.” But can't find "Preferences" in iCloud Mail on my iPhone???

Do I need iCloud Photos also to be on for this to work? I currently still sync my photos manually via iTunes to avoid the monthly iCloud charge.
