I can't sign out of icloud from my Iphone 5s, each time i try it say verification failed, there was an error connecting to icloud.

I had the same problem until I worked out that I had no wifi connection - if you did a hard reset on your phone e.g. "Settings>General>your account name>reset" it disconnects the default WiFi link so you get the "verification failed" when trying to signout because you don't have a WiFi connection. Good news, so use your laptop to disable icloud activation lock using instructions here
I'm also facing the same issue. It keep on sking me to enter the ID and password, after I entered it shows Verification Failed, cannot connect to Apple ID server.

Thanks for the reply but how can i fix the problem cause i signed in and out on my laptop with the same ID and password and it worked.
Turning offfind my phone requires a password and when i enter it says verification failed

Hi there. I have the same problem, but the iPhone has always been mine (no previous owner) and this just happened about 2 weeks ago even though I've had the phone for about 3 years. Any other ideas?
