Q: permissions with multiple OS boot drives

I have upgraded my Mac Pro (Mid 2010) with a SSD boot volume for El Capitan install.  I have my user folder on a separate harddisk.  I am very happy with the speed.

I still have some hardware that keeps me stuck switching over to 10.8.5 to use, so I have another harddisk for booting into that OS.

What is the best way to manage permission issues between both systems on all drives.  I have been having problems with multiple (Me) users appearing on some drives, and other drives are stuck "Fetching...", showing "staff", and "everyone" in addition.  I also see that some volumes have "wheel" listed as well.

I have had programs crashing trying to copy files to the folders with multiple (Me) users, cycling the Get Info page would put one of the (Me) users into "Fetching..." and I was able to then remove that user and restore normal use.

Ideally I would like to safely switch between OS and have clean access to all of my data.

Thanks for any suggestions cleaning this up.
