    Hi

Every full minute of movement equalling or exceeding the intensity of a brisk walk counts toward your daily Exercise and Move goals.

If you take your iPhone with you and record your walk as a workout via the Workout app, GPS data can be used to estimate your distance and pace. Otherwise, it is important for your arm to swing naturally as you walk or run, because the watch relies on arm motion (tracked via the built-in accelerometer) to track movement.

Calibrating your watch will enable it to more accurately estimate various fitness and activity-related results (by teaching it how your arm movements relate to stride lengths at different speeds).

Exercise and other estimations also depend on your personal information. To check that this has been entered accurately and to update it over time:

    - On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > Health > Edit (upper-right).

    thanks for your reply.

I had logged an outdoor workout on the green (running man) app and that data was fine - 5,28km / 1:10:50 / 265CAL.  it was only the activity app that wouldn't synch properly. All the info is filled in under health (my watch) I have 4 days of complete synch'ing and yesterday it went wonky ...

Even when recording an Outdoor Walk via the Workout app and even if your watch also has access to GPS data from your iPhone, Exercise credit is still only awarded by the Activity app for each full minute during which your watch estimates that your pace was equal to or greater than the intensity of a brisk walk.

The definition of a brisk walk varies from person to person, based on their personal information.
