The resources below will provide some troubleshooting steps for a trackpad that is behaving erratically. Since I'm not sure which MacBook Pro you have, I've included a relevant article about the Mid 2012 model as well.
If your pointer is jumpy when you use a trackpad, Magic Trackpad, or Magic Mouse
Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac

Thanks for letting me know which model you have. I'm not seeing an update more recent than the one I posted above. Can you start your computer in Safe Mode and try to install it again? If you continue to have issues with your trackpad, I would suggest having one of our technical advisors work with you one-on-one to try and resolve it. If there is an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider near you, they can physically inspect the computer for you. Click on the links to initiate that support.
Happy New Year!

thank you for the answer! I have tried reinstalling already without success.
However: the latest El Capitan update seems to have fixed the problem! (version 10.11.2 (15C50))
Happy New Year!
